Tree Plantation Drives using agroforestry and urban forest techniques.
On December 2nd, 2022, Inchara organized a remarkable Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with Indus Herbs at Bommasandra Govt Higher Primary School in Bengaluru. This initiative, part of our Pledge to Plant campaign, was especially significant as it coincided with the birthday of our Founder Trustee, Sachin Verma. We are thrilled to have partnered with the dedicated team from Indus Herbs for this noble cause.
The event witnessed the active participation of Inchara volunteers, school children, and staff who joined forces to plant 1000 saplings of indigenous medicinal plants. These saplings encompassed a diverse range of 60 different species, including Mahua, Mango Bakul, Curry Leaf, Indian Sandalwood, and many more. The choice of indigenous plants not only contributes to the local ecosystem but also holds immense medicinal value.
While the planting was a momentous occasion, it was just the beginning of a long-term commitment to nurture and maintain the green space. Indus Herbs will take charge of ensuring the well-being of the plants for one year, encompassing regular de-weeding, watering, trash collection, hedge plant trimming, and training the school staff for proper upkeep and maintenance. This collective effort will create a vibrant and biodiverse environment that will benefit the surrounding community.
Witnessing the tiny hands of the school children sow the seeds of the future was a truly heartwarming experience. Their innocent laughter and enthusiasm filled the air, symbolizing a hopeful and sustainable tomorrow.
